New updates and improvements to the Genoverse

Below are some of the items the Genopets team has worked on over the past few weeks. We’re pulling back the curtain to show you, fellow Genovians, what goes into making a game.

Note: most items below, unless noted, are not final. Most things we share in Status Reports include early renderings, prototypes, or explorations, so please keep that in mind when sharing thoughts.

FITZ is excited AF, and you should be too! — Major app updates will be rolling out soon

Our next app update will be a major one, so get ready to have your mind blown! Some of the features you can look forward to drooling over include:

  • Improved Steps for Android Devices

    • Fixed a specific issue that was affecting a large number of Android devices. There’s a few more fixes we’re still working on, but this will help some devices.

    • Steps may still differ from Samsung Health & Google Fit

    • You’ll need to turn off battery restrictions for it to work.

  • Volume Control in app
    • Toggle off music & app sounds — though we both know the music is perfection so you’ll always want it on.

  • New Satisfying Bank Button Sounds

  • Accurate Timezone changes

    • Now you can play as soon as you hit midnight in your new timezone.

    • To change your timezone without losing steps, do so after banking all your steps just before midnight (or when you go to sleep) in the new timezone. When you wake up the next day you’ll be able to bank again.

    • No confusing prompt when you get to a new city.

  • New look for home screen
    • Your pet now has a new plot of land to spend its days till you decide to terraform or acquire a habitat of your own
  • Habitats in app
    • Toggle your Habitat “on” in mainframe to see it appear in your app

We hear you! — Updates to Habitat Management are in the works for multi-Habitat owners

Seeing so many players taking advantage of Habitats and all they unlock has been amazing. But we realize that for those with multiple Habitats, our first version of Habitat Management needed some improvements for scalable management. Well, we heard you! Our UI/UX and Dev teams are currently working on updates to Habitat Management that will allow you to perform batch actions like upgrading and repairing multiple Habitats at once and refining multiple Crystals simultaneously.

We’re building a game for YOU, so why shouldn’t your ideas be used? — Genopets asks the community what toys and food they want to see in the game

We want our community to be as involved in our game as possible. That’s why we’re calling on all Genovians to throw their ideas in the ring. Our marketing team has created a form where you can share your ideas for food and toys. And we’re not only asking for your ideas and visual inspirations, we want to know what YOU think they should be called!

Our art team will then pick out community-generated ideas and develop them for in-game use. Who knows, next thing you know you may see your treat idea being enjoyed by your Genopet!

A few other highlights:

  • We think your pet deserves a pet too! Check out the beginnings of the most adorable balloon animal in the whole Genoverse
  • It’s important to fuel your body with carbs before a big workout, and Genopets are no different. Make sure to feed them some of this delicious Geno-bread once we launch nurture
  • And just because your Genopet is helping you reach your health and fitness goals doesn’t mean they don’t deserve some sweet treats like Ice Chalk or an Ice Cream Cone. Remember, it’s all about balance
  • We love how global our game is becoming, and want to celebrate that through in-game assets! Some Genopets may not be fans, but we know some of them will love Durian just as much as several of our team members found when they met up in Thailand
  • Don’t worry; there are so many toys and food items that have already gone through modeling and will be in the game soon! Check out the Honey Comb, Throwing Rocket, Star Fruit and Carambolo
  • Stage 5 Non-Genesis Augments have gone through vectorization and modeling — example below is for Huitzilin Stage 5 body
  • Stage 6 Genesis Augments are currently being animated in our PetStudio
  • We invited all Habitat owners into our Whitelist Beta! Want in but don’t have a Habitat? Buy one on Magic Eden then head to the #join-beta channel on Discord to get your invite
  • Our marketing team created two awesome videos to help you get started with Genopets and become an OP
