In the Genoverse, Alchemy—or the process by which players can combine Refined Crystals with various ingredients—plays a pivotal role, empowering players to create and mint game items. Unlike traditional game economies, where supply and pricing are determined by the gaming company, Genopets takes a unique approach. Here, players hold the reins, shaping the economy by crafting items and setting their supply and pricing based on the principles of supply and demand. This web3 aspect of the game unlocks a world of possibilities, enabling players to mint special fungible tokens (SFTs) like Augments, Cosmetic Crystals, Energy Boosts, and much more.
Now that you’ve got the gist, check out the steps below and get crafting!
Step 1: Obtain a Habitat
To embark on your crafting journey, you'll first need a Habitat. Obtain a Habitat by purchasing one that has been Terraformed by another player on Magic Eden. To create a Habitat, combine Refined Crystals, KI Token, GENE Token, and a Terraform Seed.
Keep in mind that there are two types of Habitats: Genesis Habitats, which possess unique advantages like the ability to Refine Genotype Crystals of any element and higher KI Harvesting caps. When buying a Habitat the easiest thing to do is filter for a “brand new” one. For more details check out this Habitat buying guide.
Since Habitats are NFTs, you’ll need to get a wallet—we recommend Phantom—and connect it to your game account. For more information on this, check out this article.
Step 2: Access Mainframe
All minting and web3 actions within Genopets take place on Mainframe, accessible through a web browser or the Phantom Wallet mobile app. Log in to your Genopets account upon entering Mainframe on our website.
Step 3: Navigate to the Alchemy Tab
To expedite your journey to the Laboratory, click on the ‘Alchemy’ tab, which provides the fastest route to your crafting workspace. Alternatively, you can access your Laboratory through the Habitat page.
Once the page loads, you'll see the number of available Labs you have for crafting.
Step 4: Add Ingredients to Your Lab
Click on the 'Alchemize' tab to view all the Ingredients in your wallet. You can add them directly into your Lab from here. Upon adding the required Ingredients, a message will confirm that you've discovered a Recipe and reveal the items you can now craft.
For a streamlined approach, select the 'Recipe Book' tab. It allows you to review previously discovered Recipes or those released by the Genopets team. Simply click on 'Alchemize' next to the desired item, and if you have the necessary Ingredients in your wallet, the crafting process will commence.
Note: With the newly introduced Bulk Craft feature, which debuted on July 17th, 2023, you can now craft multiple instances of the same item at once without signing multiple transactions. Just specify the desired quantity, and the updated crafting cost will be displayed.
Once you’ve selected your quantity, click ‘Alchemize’.
Step 5: Confirm the Transaction
Crafting involves minting an item on the blockchain, requiring you to approve the transaction before proceeding.
Step 6: View Your Crafted Item
After signing the transaction, the item you are crafting will appear. If you're crafting a Reagent, an advanced Ingredient for Augments, you'll already know the specifics based on the Recipe you followed.

Step 7: Allow Time for Crafting
Similar to the real world, creations in the Genoverse don't materialize instantaneously. Each item has a designated crafting time, ranging from 5 minutes to 24 hours. Step 8: Enjoy!
Once your item finishes crafting, it will be added to your wallet. You can view it in the inventory tab on Mainframe as well as the inventory section of the Genopets mobile app if you move them over to them app. Utilize the crafted item to enhance your own gameplay experience—remember to build up your arsenal with Augments before Step Battles and Battles launch—or list them on Marketplaces for sale to other players. The choice is yours to relish the fruits of your alchemical crafting endeavors.
