Congratulations, you just acquired a humble abode for your Genopet to call home and get creative. Now a whole new world of gameplay awaits. 

If you haven’t yet, you can buy a Habitat on Magic Eden to access crafting and other ways to earn while playing Genopets. Not sure what to buy? Filter for “Brand New” Habitats, or read the community buying guide to understand all the metadata.

There is a lot to learn about Habitats, so this will be a simple breakdown of the essential things you need to know. It will include finger-pointing to other resources you can visit to dive deeper. 

Important Things To Know:

  • All Habitat actions take place on Mainframe. Connect your mobile game account to the wallet that has your Habitat to start using it.

  • If you want to Refine Crystals on Mainframe, you will click on the “Inventory” tab on the left-hand side and the “Landlording” tab on the top. You’ll want to do this daily to have them for repairs and crafting.

  • If you want to Alchemize (Craft) items like Augments, Powerups, and Cosmetics for your Genopet, you’ll do that on Mainframe. Click on the “Alchemy” tab on the left-hand side.

  • If you want to Terraform a new Habitat from the one you bought, you do that on Mainframe. Click on the “Inventory” tab on the left-hand side and the “Terraform” tab on the top.


What Can I Do With A Habitat?

Harvest KI

Earn KI Token daily using your Energy to Harvest KI from your Habitat. The amount of KI you can Harvest is directly related to the level of your Habitat.

We suggest Harvesting KI daily—any day you do not Harvest is a lump of KI lost for good. And you will want LOTS of KI because it is a base unit needed for Habitat Management actions, like: 

  • Refining Crystals
  • Crafting 
  • Upgrading your Habitat
  • Repairing your Habitat
  • Restoring your Habitat
  • Renting a Habitat from another player

Refine Crystals

Your Habitat will spawn Unrefined Crystals each day which you need to Refine in your Habitat. Once they are Refined, you can use them to Craft Recipes or sell them on Magic Eden.

It is best to Refine Crystals daily—Crystals are base items for Habitat actions so you will need LOTS of them. They are used for Crafting, Repairing, and Terraforming new Habitats. Every Crystal you do not Refine daily is a Crystal lost you may need to buy later. 

Practice Alchemy (Craft)

In your Habitat’s Laboratory, follow recipes and combine KI, GENE, Refined Crystals, and Advanced Ingredients to Craft Items like Augments and Cosmetic Crystals. In the future, you’ll also be able to Craft Energy Boosts, Food, and Toys.

  • Benefit of Crafting Reagents: Necessary Advanced Ingredient to Craft Augments
  • Benefits of Crafting Augments: Customize your Genopet’s looks and their battle stats
  • Benefits of Crafting Cosmetic Crystals: Customize your Genopet’s primary, secondary and light line colors
  • Benefit of Crafting Boosts: Earn more Energy, for a specified period of time, without walking more or leveling up your pet

Terraform New Habitats

You can create new Habitats using the Terraform Seeds your Habitat spawns or ones you’ve purchased on Magic Eden. Connect the new Habitat as a sub-Habitat to increase your Harvesting KI Cap.

An additional way to increase your Harvesting KI Cap is to Upgrade your Habitat. Upgrading your Habitat also increases:

  • Number of Crystals spawned daily
  • Durability
  • Crafting capacity 

Coolest thing about Terraforming new Habitats? Habitat owners have control over the habitat supply because new ones can only be made by existing owners.


How Do I Earn With A Habitat?

Harvest KI

Use your Energy and Harvest KI Tokens from your Habitat using Mainframe. The higher level your Habitat is, the more KI you can Harvest each day. Adding sub-Habitats will also increase your KI Harvesting Cap.

Sell Items

Using your Habitat’s Laboratory—which you’ll find on Mainframe—you can craft Items like Reagents, Augments, and Cosmetic Crystals. If you don’t want to use them yourself, you can list them on Magic Eden and sell them to other players.

Rent Out Your Habitat

You can lease your Habitat to other players as either an Alchemist—giving them crafting rights—or a Harvester—giving them rights to Harvest KI. Alchemists will pay rent to the Habitat owner, and Harvesters will pay a percentage of the KI they harvest. 

Sell Your Habitat

If you have Terraformed (created) additional Habitats, you can list them on Magic Eden and sell them to other players.

Maintaining A Habitat

Your Habitat is like a house for your Genopet. And just like houses in the “real world,” it decays over time if not maintained. Once a Habitat is fully decayed, it enters a state called Dormancy. 

What happens when a Habitat is Dormant?

In a Dormant state, a Habitat will stop spawning Unrefined Crystals, and you won’t be able to Craft or Harvest KI.

To keep your Habitat from reaching Dormancy, you need to repair your Habitat. Though not necessary to Repair daily, it is a good habit rather than waiting to bulk repair.

How do you Repair a Habitat?

To Repair your Habitat, you’ll need Genotype Crystals that are the same element as your Habitat. That’s why you should be refining Crystals daily!

You’ll want to repair often so that your Habitat doesn’t go Dormant. Repairing extends the lifespan of the Habitat, so you can keep Harvesting KI and refining Crystals without Restoring it.

If your Habitat becomes Dormant, you will need to Restore it to bring it back from the dead.

How do you Restore a Habitat?

To Restore your Habitat, you’ll pay a revival cost in KI Tokens. The amount of KI required is directly related to the Level of Habitat that needs restoring.
